Planning - Replacement Windows & Doors
Most replacement windows and doors are not subject to planning approval. Homes within areas of special architectural interest or if a listed building or within a conservation area, DO require approval.
Local authorities require replacement windows to maintain sympathy and often require replacements to be of an exact style and profile and generally of the same original material, although in many circumstances, material change (eg: to pvc-u from soft wood) is permitted, if the original style is maintained.
In any event, we believe that home owners should be socially responsible and respectful of general style of their surrounding neighbourhood, and in particular, aware of their homes original features and the asset created by maintaining overall compatible style.
Our service objectives include the advice about frame profile styles and material impact. Our philosophy is to maintain the theme of a homes style, but to improve the technical performance of any new window or door. There are many profile systems available in many materials, and it is our principal objective to advise on the most appropriate for the home owner.
Our service includes the correct specification of your project in respect of proposed Replacement Windows & Doors. It is our responsibility to ensure that the specification meets all relevant Building Control requirements, including Insulation Standards, Ventilation & Fire Escape provision.
